About me

Lifelong learner

Hello, I’m William Tavares, a dedicated lifelong learner originally from Venezuela. My journey began in 2006 when I earned my degree in civil engineering, leading to a decade-long career in construction and the petroleum and gas industry across Venezuela, Spain, and Nicaragua. In 2016, I relocated to Chicago to master English, a pivotal decision that opened new doors.

In 2022, I discovered my true calling as a Bilingual Teacher at an elementary school. The thrill and challenges of my first year in teaching left an indelible mark on my heart, inspiring me to enhance my students’ education further. This passion led me to the Master of Education in Applied Digital Learning program in 2023, a journey filled with growth and discovery.

My learning philosophy emphasizes student choice, ownership, and voice, moving away from rote memorization to creating meaningful and authentic learning experiences. I strive to foster environments where students are engaged, excited, and empowered in their learning journeys. Through my Innovation Plan, which incorporates the Blended Learning Station Rotation Model, I aim to boost student achievement by addressing diverse learning needs.

I believe that learning is a lifelong adventure, filled with curiosity and exploration. My vision for education continues to evolve, driven by the desire to help students become enthusiastic, lifelong learners. The road has been challenging, but every obstacle has been worth it for the opportunity to make a positive impact on my students’ lives.

Looking ahead, I am eager to gain more knowledge and embrace the bright future filled with opportunities to enrich my students’ educational experiences.
